MISC.

A piece for a group show titled MISC. at Kaida Contemporary in Quezon City, Philippines. Adding written text on these works (including the Manila House pieces) is something that I really want to do before but doesn't seem to fit any of my works before. I think it works on these simple abstract pieces.

Rick finds himself fascinated with the art of the urbanity, which inspires him to paint canvasses of abstracted typography and graffiti. He uses color and pattern to recreate vivid images of street art that he has encountered around the city. In so doing, he transports audiences to his world with the power of figuration and representation.
About the Artist: Rick studied Fine Arts at the Technological University of the Philippines. A multi-awarded artist, he represented the country in the First Langkawi Art Biennale in Malaysia and the 25th AIAE in Mongolia. He has participated in countless solo shows and group exhibitions in prestigious venues around the country.
